Brand profile
Jose Celestino Mutis and the Real Expedicion Botanica de la Nueva Granada are the pillars of the Mutis brand, as is the sumptuous and unique South American flora.
Mutis fragrances revive the memories and graphic language of the Real Expedicion Botanica. Inside each bottle, we find the courage, tenacity and stubbornness of Jose Celestino Mutis.
In 1760, the Spanish priest Jose Celestino Mutis travelled to Nueva Granada in South America, where he became the most important botanist of the Spanish crown.
In 1783 he inaugurated and directed the Real Expedición Botánica de la Nueva Granada. He went on to discover the flora of the centre and north of the South American continent, but above all of the legendary territory called “El Dorado” that we know today as Colombia. The expedition under Mutis’s direction was one of the most thorough and important globally in terms of graphics and art.
The Mutis project translates the graphic works created during '' La Real E.B '' into exclusive fragrances.
The six fragrances born of this idea use the Flora of pre-independence Colombia and are inspired by the Magical Realism of this land, thus creating exotic, supernatural and magical atmospheres.
The selection of the olfactory notes is built around three words: exoticism, legend and folklore. This selection has given life to an identity that is both sensual and refined, with an unmistakable and magical character.
