The Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica Santa Maria Novella is opening its doors to the public for Fragranze. The origins of the Officina can be traced back to the year 1221 when the Dominican monks who had arrived in Florence built their monastery at the gates of the city and soon after began studying and experimenting with the properties of the medicinal herbs cultivated in the kitchen gardens adjacent to the monastery. Since 1612, the year in which it was opened up to the public, it has assumed the name of Officina Profumo - Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. Without ever interrupting the production and sale of perfumes, soaps, cosmetics and liqueurs, it has arrived at the present day continuing to use raw materials of the highest quality and following the craft processes of the Dominican monks.

Rendezvous with the free guided tours in Italian to be booked in advance on Friday 13 September at 9.30 and 10.30 a.m. (Via della Scala 16, places are limited, to book email rsvp@pittimmagine.com).
